Jan Thiel's charm is very particular. Yet it is fascinating, in its own way.

Jan Thiel's charm is very particular. Yet it is fascinating, in its own way. The magic of a man who opened new paths in the motoring field, won an impressive number of world titles, made the motorbikes of many manufacturers and many private riders fly, was courted by riders and team managers without changing an inch . He made history - motorcycling history - and he doesn't seem to have noticed it. He hasn't changed his way of acting, he hasn't changed that somewhat too "casual" clothing for which a couple of times DORNA - the MotoGP organization - asked him to sit outside the pits: sandals and t-shirt, perhaps the before that he had found in the drawer. Jan is just like that, he has never been interested in appearing different from what he is. At school he studied little, in life he never stopped: he left school shortly after eighth grade but continued to increase his knowledge with crazy determination by reading books, looking at photographs in newspapers, examining anyone who could give him some ideas to develop and above all by reasoning and experimenting a lot. But Jan is someone who wants to make mistakes with his head. He did not let himself be guided even in the construction of this book, and he also wanted to develop this in his own way, giving his very personal reading of facts and people. Because Jan is like that, he has a very personal vision of the world and of things; like it or not, it is precisely in that way that he achieved incredible successes and results achieved by no one else. If something has been omitted it means that it was not important to him or it constituted a part of his life that he does not like to remember. This is Jan's book, for those who have the patience to read it to the end it is the opportunity to get to know him more deeply than was granted to most of the people he met along the way. Without claiming to know him completely, however, as was said at the beginning. Because Jan has always been enigmatic and he hasn't stopped being so since he retired. And it is this feeling that there is always something special yet to be discovered that makes his character incredibly fascinating.
